    WALTER McNEILL RITES MONDAY AT ROCHESTER

    Walter Edward McNeil, 82, farmer, and carpenter of Rt. 1, Rochester, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Hospital where he had been a been in patient for a day. He had failing health several years.

    Born in Boston, Mass. March 24, 1888, he was one of 20 orphans who came to this area from the Little Wonders Home in 1892. His foster were Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Myers.

    A resident of this county most of his life he spent the past 21 winters i in Palm. Harbor, Fla.

    His marriage on June 5, 1913, in Plymouth was to Dessie Overmyer. He was a member of the Emmanuel U. M. Church of Culver.

    Survivors are his wife; two sons: Donald E., Indio, Calif.; Royal N., South Bend; five grandchildren; one great-grand-Landis, daughter.

    A daughter, Mrs. Clara Jean Andrus, died four years ago.

    Friends may call at Foster and Good Funeral Home today between 3 and 5 and 7 and p.m. Services at the funeral home will be at 2 p.m. Monday.

    The Rev. A. E. Givens will officiate and burial will be in Culver Masonic Cemetery. - Logansport Press Aug 30, 1970

    rochester - Services for Dess Mae McNiel, 90, of Route 7, Box 548, who died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Canterbury Nursing Home afer a two year illness, will be at a.m. Saturday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home.

    Burial will be in Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver.

    Friends may call crom 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday in the funeral home.

    Mrs McNeil was born Sept 22, 1894 in Culver, and lived in Fulton and Marshall counties most of of her life.

    On June 13, 1913 in Plymouth she married Walter E. McNeil. He died Aug 28, 1970.

    She is survived by two sones: Donald E. of Rochester and Royal N of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren

    A daughter Clare Andrus, preceded her in death.

    She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist church South Bend Tribune November 15, 1984
