Fish Club Offers Bird House Prizes



1936 - Mar 25 - Fish Club Offers Bird House Prizes

    Here's a chance for the boys of this vicinity to earn some cash or other prizes and also help in providing bird houses for the town park. The Bird Sanctuary Fish Club is offering $10 in cash and several other prizes to boys building the best bird houses. These must be completed by May 1. The houses will become the property of the Fish Club and will be placed in the town park as an attraction for more birds. Naturally the houses must be practical and it is suggested that those entering the contest studv the requirements for bird houses before starting condtruction.

    Announcement will be later as to where the bird houses are to be left for judging. In the meantime, any further information regarding the contest may be secured from Charles Cowen. 1936 - April 1 - Don't forget Boys to Start your Bird House
      Boys of the community are reminded that now is the time to start building bird houses to competer for t he $10 cash prizes and other attractive prices to be awared by the Bird Sanctuary Fish Club

      These housed will be placed in the town park as an added attraction to birds. These houses should be practical.

    1936 - April 15 - Time growing shor For Bird House Builders
      With May A less than three weeks away the builders of bird houses for the contest being sponsored by the Bird Sanctuary Fish CLub are reminded t hat their projects mus be well started to have them completed by the final day.

      $10 in cash and other attractive prizes will be awarded by an impartial committee of judges.

      The houses will be judged first for their practicanility and then for good workmanship, design and general appearance.

      The houses should be built for a certain type of bird.

      These bird houses will be placed in the towon park to attract a large number of the feathered tribe to that attractive spot.


    1936 April 22 - Bird Houses COntest Prizes are Announced
      A list of attractive prizes for the bird house contest being conducted by the Bird Sanctuary FIsh CLub has been announced.

      There will be a ste for boys up to and including 14 years of age and a duplicate set for those over 15 years old.

      The prises are:
        first, $3.00 in cash;
        second, $1,50 in cash;
        third, $1,50 baseball bat;
        fourth $1.00 baseball;
        fifth, 85 cents baseball;
        sixth 50 cents in cash;
        seventh, three tickets to Palms Theatre;
        eighth, two tickets to Palms Theatre;
        ninth and tenth, one ticket each to Palms Theatre;


      All bird houses entered in the contest become the property of the club and will be placed in the town park.

      No bird houses will be returned.

      All enteries must be in by Saturady, April 25.

      They must be left at the Citizen office, with Charles Cowen, Harrison Rice or Palms Theatre.


    1936 - Billy Anderson Wns Bird House contest
      Billy Anderson won first place in the bird house building contest sponsored by the Bird Sanctuary Fish Hatchery Club.

      His attractine rustic house would be a winner in any contest. He wins a cash prise of three dollars.

      Second prize of $1.50 goes to Walbo Emerson Gabyfor his large two-story house that showe consoiderable effort and workmanship

      Junior Zechiel wins third place and a fine baseball bat,

      while fourth place goes to Cecil Miller and he gets a big league baseball.

      The prize winners can get their awards at the Citizen office.

      Charles Coweno and Harrison Rice directed the contest for the club.

      The bird Houses will be placed in the town park.
