Janet M. Burke August 26, 1933 - January 22, 2019
PLYMOUTH - Janet M. Burke, 85, of Plymouth, passed away on Jan. 22 in Bourbon.
Janet was born Janet Marie Miller at Winona Lake, to Leon and Alice Miller.
She had two older brothers and one older sister.
She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1951. Her education continued with an Associate Degree from
Ancilla College in 1973, a BA from IUSB in 1975, and a MA from IUSB in 1983.
Janet married David Burke in 1953.
They had four children: Susan, Dan, Scot, and Steve. She also had six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,
all of whom survive along with her husband.
Janet's professional career consisted of responsible administrative positions at Culver Academies. These consisted
of: Director of the Girls Summer Camp, Asst. Dean of Girls during the regular school year, and Admissions Officer.
While the latter, she made regular admissions trips in Texas and Mexico City. These duties took place over a 25
year career.
Among Janet's favorite activities were: making and being with friends, traveling, reading, and cooking. Her special
ove was her family. Her loves also included various family dogs - Duke and Skeeter when she was a kid, Penney
when she was first married, various other "married" dogs, and finally Cosmo, who waits for her at home.
A time of visitation will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, on Monday, Jan. 28, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Rev. Sam Boys will officiate a memorial service at 1 p.m.

Ind. 46504.
