830 N. Lake Shore Dr.
1962 - May 30 - NEW LOCATION WE'VE MADE SOME CHANGES The Culver Lodge (soon to be named
The Village Lodge) is now under the management of VIRGINIA GLACKMAN and THE HOUSE OF
TREASURES has moved its entire stock and will be open at 284 Lake Shore Drive June 1st You are
cordially invited to visit our gift shop.
The building in the foreground was the
House of Treasures which is now
Papa's.
The House of Treasures Was originally located at 772 West Shore Drive, on the west side of the road on
West Shore Drive. Owner was Virginia Glackman.
It was moved to what is now 824 N. Lakeshore Drive (now Pappa's after many business and renovations in
between) and in 1961 and been moved from West Shore Dr. (then St. Rd. 17) to Lake Shore Dr.
The Culver Lodge post card below depicts it shortly after it was moved and before a string of businesses
occupied it before Pappa's. It looks as if in it that is is sitting empty at the time the photograph for the
postcard was taken.
I do not remember the exact year it was removed from the West Shore location - but I remember as a kid
seeing or following it through town in the car - (of course mom was driving) and I think we were still living
at the corner of State Road 10 & 17 .
