    Dr. Kenneth K. Kraning, 76, of 834 West Shore Drive, Culver, former Kewanna physician, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday at th Charlton Methodist Hospital, Dallas, Texas. He had been in the hospital since Jan. 2.

    He was born Dec. 15, 1906 in North Manchester to Charles and Carrie ARNOLD Kraning.

    He came to Culver in 1953 from Kewanna.

    He married Virginia Speicher Aug. 29, 1929. She survives.

    He paracticed [practiced] medicine in Kewanna since 1935.

    He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of General Practitioners and the Logansport Elks Lodge.

    Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Luis (Kathleen) BENEDICT, Dallas, Taxas; a son, Kenneth K. Kraning II, Seattle, Wash. and six grandchildren.

    Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Culver, with the Rev. Donald BOWMAN officiating.

    Private interment will be at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.

    The Bonine Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.

    There will be no visitation.

    Contributions may be sent to the Wesley United Methodist church or the Heart Association.

    Virginia S. Kraning, 95, 907 Juniper Place, Bloomington, died at 12:25 p.m. ' Thursday at Bloomington Hospital.

    Born in Ashville, N.C., to Daniel E. and Alice M. Speicher, she married Dr. Kenneth K. Kraning on Aug. 29, 1929. He preceded her on Jan. 11, 1983.

    She lived on Lake Maxinkcuckee from 1953 to 1987, when she moved to Bloomington.

    She grew up in Urbana and was an Urbana High School granduate. She attended North Central College and Manchester College, where she received a bachlor’s degree in nutiriton. She lso earned a master’s degree in nuturition at Indiana University.

    Mrs. Kraning worked several years within the family owned and operated company, Cyclone Seeder, as an executive.

    She was an American Red Cross volunteer during World War II, was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Epsilon Nu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed nature, watching and feeding all types of birds and growing geraniums.

    Surivors include a daughter, Kathleen and husband Luis Benedicto, Duncanville, Texas; four granddaughters, Carrie and husband Richard Opara, Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and husband Michael McCurdy, Flower Mound, Texas, Mary Benedicto, Duncanville, Texas, and Susan and husband Brian Olson, McKinney, Texas; two grandsons, Kenneth Kraning III, Seattle Washington, and Christopher Kraning, Orange County, Calif., and two great-granddaughters, Zoe DENTON, McKinney, and Olivla Opara, Columbia, Md.

    She was preceded by her husband, a son, Kenneth K. Kraning II, a brother, Harold Speicher, and two sister, Naomi Ullom and Miriam Faust .

    Memorial services will be held at a later date.

    Interment will be at Culver Masonic emetery, Culver.

      Benedicto - Kathleen Kae, born during the summer of 1938, in Rochester, IN, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Dallas, TX.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr and Mrs Kenneth Klaire Kraning of Culver, IN, and brother, Dr Kenneth Klaire Kraning, II, of Natick, MA.

      She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Luis Benedicto of Duncanville, TX, three daughters Gina and husband Michael McCurdy of Flower Mound, TX, Mary Benedicto of Duncanville, TX, and Susan and husband Brian Olson of McKinney, TX.

      She is also survived by two beautiful granddaughters Zoe and Zia and a third granddaughter expected in July 2004.

      Kathleen grew up in Kewanna, IN, later moving to Culver, IN, and graduated from Tudor Hall, Indianapolis, IN, where she was a leader in sports programs and involved in the marching band.

      She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO, where she studied Languages and was an active member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She later transferred to Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, majoring in Geology.

      It was during her college days at Purdue, that she met her husband, Luis Benedicto, who became the love of her life. Kathleen and Luis were married in Culver, IN, in December 1 961. Shortly after their union, they made a new home and began their family in Venezuela, SA, where she began her career as a devoted wife and mother. She adjusted superbly to a new culture and quickly gained a command of the Spanish language.

      In 1976, Luis' job took the family to their home of 28 years in Duncanville. Kathleen spent many years volunteering by visiting shut-ins through Meals on Wheels. She also provided numerous hours of service to the Stew Pot Ministries. Kathleen graced her wonderful personality at St Paul's Episcopal Church, working in the gift shop, assisting with meal and reception preparation, coordinating the flower arrangements for church services, and was very involved in the music program.

      Kathleen enjoyed nature, watching and feeding all types of birds. She created a beautiful and serene backyard garden for all to enjoy. Another one of her passions in life was her love for music. She had an incredible ear for music and was taught formally to play both the piano and flute. She continued to share her musical talent throughout her life.

      Kathleen was happiest when surrounded by her loving family and friends. She touched many lives by her grace, warmth, and cheerful personality that always livened up a room. She leaves us a legacy and shining example of her unconditional love, kindness, and generosity. She was an ever-present figure in family gatherings and was a true matriarch.

      She was known as Kathy to her friends and "Grammy" to her family and grandchildren. Grammy will be dearly missed and will be in our hearts and thoughts forever.

      Memorial Service will be held: Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at 2 pm at St Paul's Episcopal Church, 1302 W Kiest Blvd, Dallas, TX.

      A memorial service will be held tomorrow for Dr. Kenneth K. Kraning II, a renowned dermatologist who died May 18, at his home in Natick. He was 60.

      A resident of Natick for the last nine years.

      Dr. Kraning was born in rochester, Ina., He was a graduate of Culver Military Academy in Culver. Ind. and Purdue University in West Lafayette, In. Dr. Kraning received his doctorate in physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and as a faculty member of the University of Washington department of medicine and division of dermatology.

      He moved to Natick in 1988 and was a research physiologist with the U. S. Army research Institute of Environmental Medicine.

      Dr. Kraning received international recognition for his research in dermatology. He wasa member of numerous professional organizations and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Natick.

      He leaves his mother, Virginia (Speicher) Kraning of Bloomingdale, Ind.; his daughter Carrie Lynn of Seattle and two sons Ken of Seattle and Christopher of Redondo Beach,

      Calif.

      The memorial service will be held tomorrow t 7 p.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Nantick. - 26 May 1997 Boston, Massachusetts
