Ruth Ann Swint, 67, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice
Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born in 1945 in Aurora, IL, grew up in Dodgeville, WI, earned degrees from Methodist
Hospital School of Nursing in Madison, WI and the University of Illinois College of Nursing (with
Honors).
Ruth Ann was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, a past volunteer at
Matthew 25, and a member of the Board of Canterbury School.
She worked at the Mayo Clinic School of Nursing, St. Anne's Nursing Home, and Hospice
Home. She will be remembered for a deep compassion for her patients, and the love of
teaching Hospice Care to IPFW and University of Saint Francis students.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Robert E. Swint of Fort Wayne, sons, Robert E. (Diane)
Swint, Jr. of Newton, MA, Michael P. (Janet) Swint of Hoboken, NJ, James M. (Meghan)
Swint of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Riley Ann, Teagan Kearney and Kendall Swint, sister
Janet Fenley of Madison, WI.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by parents, Robert C. and Ruth S. (Weir) Edge, and sister
Rachel (Powell) Humbert.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am, Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann
Seton Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Rev. John H. Delaney officiating.
Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road
Sunday, December 30, 2012 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a vigil service
at 8:00 pm. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fremont, Ohio.
