1879 - Maxinkuckee Lake has an excellent discription of the Peru House

The Peru Club was organized in 1878-9. The organizing members is said to have been

Louis B. Fulwiler [Louis V. Fulwiler],
    Moses Muhlfield,
    Milton Shirk,
    John Muhlfield,
    John S. Hale,
    and Mrs. Lizzie Wiggins,
and others of Peru. They purchased on the northeast bank of the lake on Peeples Point and erected a two story club house. It disbanded several years before 1908; or around 1905 it is said. This account comes from Mc Donald's "An Early History of Lake Maxinkuckee"

In 1878-9 Louis B. Fulwiler, Moses Muhlfield, and others of Peru, purchased ground and erected a two-story clubhouse on the northeast bank of the lake. The club in its earlier days was one of the most noted organizations on the lake, and its disbandment a number of years ago was a distinct loss to the cottagers who made their homes around the lake during the summers - History of Marshall County Indiana (1908) Daniel Mc Donald pg. 100

1880 - July 29
"Point Pleasant," the finest location on the lake. On this projection Messrs. B. Fulwiler, J. S. Hale, Milton Shirk and John Miihlfeld, of Peru, and Mrs. Lizzie Wiggins, formerly of this city, have erected a substantial and comfortable house for the use of themselves and invited friends.

The "Peruvians"' have named their summer resort "'pleasant" and it is most admirably named, for they know how to make it pleasant for you when you call down at "three.''

After quaffing a glass of delicious butter-milk" ( ?) from the spring house, we wore "taken in tow" by Messrs. Muhlfled and Fulwiler.

They have about an acre fenced.

The house is two stories with

    DOUBLE PIAZZAS

in east and south sides. The upper story is used for sleeping rooms and the lower for dining and reception room The club has four row boats, the "Blossom," the 'Peru", "Fire Fly" and "Oscar."

The Oscar is barge built, with cushioned seats and canopied top.

They also have one sail boat, the Nancy Lee".

Bidding goodbye to our new-found friends we are rowed out to our sail boat in the Blossom.

The Peru people have spent some $1,500 in fitting up their place.

From the 15th Annual Report to the Governor, 1886 MAXINKUCKEE. W. H. THOMPSON AND S. E. LEE.
Near Mr. Vajen's place, on the east, the Peru Club has its Club House, and here the club has bored to a depth of one hundred and sixty feet, ending in obdurate hardpan. The flow of water from some higher stratum of sand is weak, being about an eighth of an inch from a two-inch pipe. No section could be obtained.

Which is proven by the 1908 plat map which shows it as one big lot being owned by Chas. Brawnell/Brownell

and by 1922 it hade been split into 3 lots belonging to Alma Kittle, Lilla D. Detcham and Lillie Deming; and the Peru Club being located approximately in the middle of the once large lot.

And as one sees in the picture the club did not sit on the point but back from it, the pictures are decpetive in distance.
