William H. Schroeder, prominent local business man, passed away suddenly at his home, 2540 East Broadway at 5:30 o'clock Wednesday morning following a heart attack.

He had been in the shoe business in Logansport since 1902.

Mr. Schroeder was at work as usual Tuesday and in the evening viewed Logansports' Victory Parade from the lawn of the Kroeger funeral home.

He started in business in a partnership with James D. Porter in 1902 when they bought out the J. B. Winters shoe store next to the Golden Rule store on Broadway. In 1911 the business location was changed to Fourth street between Market street and Broadway where it has been the past 34 years. The Porter-Schroeder partnership was dissolved in 1930 and Mr. Schroeder since has operated the business under the firm name of the Schroeder Shoe Store.

Mr. Schroeder was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church.

He was born Nov. 26, 1869 in Huntington, Ind., the son of Gottlieb and Sophia Schroeder.

Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mary Louise Gieseke, wife of Lt. (J. G.) Henry T. Gieseke of the navy, recently returned from Guam; three grandchildren, Janice, Jeane and Billy Gieseke; two brothers, D. H. Schroeder and Charles Schroeder, both of Huntington.

The body was removed to the Kroeger funeral home where it will remain until the hour of the funeral

Funeral Services: Funeral rites were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Kroeger funeral home for William H. Schroeder, well-known local shoe merchant who passed away Wednesday. The Rev. E. H. Reuter officiated and burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemeertery
