1922 - A COMPLETE AND UP-TO-DATE INDUSTRY
    One of the busiest and oldest industries of its kind in Logansport is the Logansport Carriage Works, owned and operated by L. S. Harshman. It was established in 1905, and has withstood the acid test for seventeen years.

    During this time improvements have been added and departments modernly equipped until the present stage of perfection, has been realized. The establishment is composed of several different departments, namely:

    Blacksmith Shop.

    This department is in charge of G. W. Drompp, and is equipped. to bandle anything in the blacksmith line, with the exception of horseshoeing. Here springs are made for automobiles, and all work pertaining to structural body Work for automobiles and vehicles.

    In this department is a hydraulic press for Firestone truck tires, and it is interesting to note that the average tire can be changed in fifteen minutes. The press has a pressure of 150 tons. or 300.000 pounds.

    Woodwork Department.

    Here everything for the woodwork on auto bodies, truck or wagon bodies is made.

    Also the repalring and building of automobile, wagon and buggy wheels.

    Auto Trimming Department

    This department makes auto top, curtains and all general work pertaining to auto trimming.

    Auto Painting Department.

    This department is in charge of P. W. Menke. who is an expert in his line. Automobiles, buggies. wagons and trucks are painted here systematically.

    The Logansport Carriage Works has 17,500 square feet of floor space, and is truly one of Logansport's leading industries. - The Pharos-Tribune Logansport, Indiana Jan 14, 1922


1923 - NEW PARTNERS IN CARRIAGE WORKS
    George Blutecker has purchased a half interest in the Logansport Carriage Works of L, S. Harshman.

    The deal was completed yesterday.

    Mr. Blutecker is an experienced automobile man having formerly been engaged in the accessory bustness.

    Before the half interest of the Carriage Works he was connected with the local branch of the Gossard factory.

    Gencral repair work to automobiles wagons will be continued by the new firm.

        Ora Harshman, Aged 84, Dies Mrs. Ora Harshman, 84, whose residence here was at 210 W. Linden, died Saturday afternoon at 3:15 al the home of her sister, Miss Ella Campbell in Union City, Indiana,

        Born July 22, 1874, in Union City, she was the daughter of Abe and: Anna Van Nuys Campbell,

        Her marriage was to Lote Harshman.| whose death occurred March 9, 1944.

        Survivors are the sister, Miss Etta Campbell, Union Cily: a cousin, Mrs. Owen Cripe, Walton, Ind.

        Friends may call at the McCloskey-Hamilton funeral home after seven o'clock this evening.

        Final rites will be at two o'clock Tuesday at the funeral home. The Reverend Kenneth Brady, pastor of the Ninth Street Christian church, of which she was a member, will officiate.
