    Donald D. O'Neill Dies; Rites To Be Wednesday

    Donald D. O'Neill, 74. of 2000 Michigan at Ave., prominent local attorney, died 8:52 p.m. Sunday at Memorial hospital

    He was county attorney for a number of years and served eight years as president of the Logansport School board in addition to 21 years of service as the school board attorney. He served as president of the Indiana County Attorneys Association and was also president of the Indiana County and Township Officials Association in 1942. His eight-year stint as president of the school board ended in 1964. He also had completed 33 years as a director of the Community State Bank of Royal Center, of which he was senior vice-president.

    Born April 3, 1904, in Logansport to Floyd and Ella Stanley O'Neill.

    He was married April 12, 1930. to Virginia Barnes.

    He was graduated from Logansport High in 1922 and from School Butler University in 1928. He also attended Purdue and Indiana Universities and was School graduated from the Indianapolis Law in 1934.

    He started practicing law here in 1935 and was past president of the Cass County Bar Association as well as past exalted ruler of the local Elks lodge.

    O'Neill was a member of the local Tipton Masonic lodge, the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine Temple in Fort Wayne, the the Elks Shrine club, Logansport the Masonic York Rite.lodge. Indiana Bar Association. and Sons of the American Revolution.

    He was a former lieutenant in the ROTC and National Guard.

    Surviving are the wife: a son., County Attorney John O'Neill. 2412 North St.; a daughter. Mrs. Joan Logan, Atlanta. Ga.; a sister. Mrs. Josephine Hebert. Indianapolis; a brother, Atty. Lynn O'Neill Rt. 2, Logansport and five grandchildren.

    Funeral rites will be at 10:30 a.m Wednesday at the McCloskey-Hamilton funeral home Gundrum Dr. E. Clyde Mayfield, officiating.

    Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

    Services for Virginia B. O'Neill, 84, of 675 South Ford Road, Zionsville, formerly of 2000 Michigan Ave., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

    She died at 3:15 p.m. Friday in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

    Born Nov. 23, 1906, in Roachdale, she was the daughter of William C. and Nellie Grantham Barnes.

    On April 12, 1930, in Indianapolis, she was married to Donald D. O'Neill, who died Junc 11, 1978.

    She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Indiana Society of Pioneers, Cass County Historical Society, Cass County Genealogy Society, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

    Surviving are one daughter, Joan Logan, Indianapolis; one son, John, 2412 North St.; and five grandchildren.

    The Rev. Keith Phillips will officiate at the services.

    Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

    Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

      Donald “John” O’Neill, 65, died May 14, 2005, at his residence in Indianapolis.

      He was born July 24, 1939. His parents were Donald and Virginia (Barnes) O’Neill.

      Survivors include two daughters, Johnna Montgomery of Greenwood and Taylor O’Neill of Noblesville; a sister, Joan Logan; and five grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shawn Wright; two sons, Shea and Shane O’Neill; and a grandson, Dalton Johnson.

      He attended Wabash College and was a graduate of Indiana University and Indiana University School of Law. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

      He was a recreational pilot and scuba diver.

      Services are private and are being handled by Aaron-Ruben- Nelson Funeral Home, 1328 W. 86th St., in Indianapolis.
