    E. B. PORTER DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
      MANY YEARS CASHIER OF INDIANA NATIONAL BANK.

      SON OF FORMER GOVERNOR

      Edward Brown Porter died at 6:30 p. m. yesterday at his home, 1807 North Pennsylvania street. He had been in feeble health for several years and during the last three years had suffered several slight strokes of paralysis. The immediate cause of death was a stroke at noon last Saturday.

      He leaves a widow, who. was Miss Carrie Ray, daughter of the late Colonel John W. Ray. to whom he was married June 10, 1874, and three children, Mrs. EDWARD B. PORTER. Gordon E. Verney and Miss Anne Porter. of this city, and Mrs. Frank Jelleft. of Providence, R. I; also a brother, George T. Porter, of Washington, D. C., and a sister, Mrs. Augustus L. Mason, of this city.

      George T. Porter, who is now at Carlsbad. Germany, has been notifed by cable of the death of his, brother.

      The funeral services will be held at the family home at 10 a. m Thursday.

      Burial will be at Crown Hill cemetery.

      Mr. Porter, who was a son of the late Albert G. Porter, a former Governor of Indiana, was born in this city, October 14, 1851.

      After leaving school he clerked for a time in the old Yohn book store, then in North Meridian street in the Yohn block. He entered the Indiana National Bank as a clerk in 1880, and after serving in that position and as a teller. He was elected cashier in March, 1885. He held the latter position until January, 1907, when by reason of falling health he tendered his resignation. This resignation was not received, but was held until January,1908, during which his salary continued.

      It was would hoped that a year of out-of-door life would restore his health: but as this not the case he insisted that his resignation should be made effective.

      He was recognized by all who came in contact with him as a careful, conscientious. painstaking and gentlemanly official, quiet and thorough in his methods, and never wounding the feelings said of any that one.

      In the bank it is said that he was always kept fully abreast with all that was and best in banking and bookkeeping methods.

      He was interested in a number business enterprises, among which were Adams Brick Company, the Atlanta Tinplate Company and the Varney Electric Company.

      EDWARD BROWN PORTER DIES

      Son of Ex-Governor Porte Succumbs to Paralysis.

      Edward Brown Porter, 58 years old, a son of, former Governor Albert1 G. Porter, and cashier at the Indiana National-Bank for twenty-five years, died yesterday, at the family home, 1807 North Pennsylvania street, from paralysis.

      He suffered several strokes within the last few years and his death, was not a surprise to attending physicians and relatives.

      Mr. Porter, tendered his resignation to the directors of tho Indiana Bank: almost three years ago, when his health first began to fall. They delayed action for ten or twelvo months, thinking the he might improve and accepted it then only when he insisted.

      Those who knew him in financial circles say he was of the ultra conservative type and calm and cool under any and all conditions. He was a man of an even temper and business associates say they never saw him angry.

      At the time of his death Mr. Porter wan presldent of the Adams Brick Company and interested in aevornl other corporations. He was a member of the Royai Arcanum Lodge and tho Roberts Park M. E. Church.

      He is survived by a widow and three children, Miss Anne Porter, who lives at tho family home; Mrs., Gordon E. VArney. 688 East drive. Woodruff Place and Mrs. Frank Jeleff of Providence, R. I.; a brother, George T. Porter, Washington, and a slster, Mrs. A. L. Mason, 1006 North Delaware Btreet.

    Mrs. Carrie Ray Porter Dies; Funeral Tomorrow
      Mrs. Carrie Ray Porter, 80 years old, member of an early and prominent Indianapolis family, died yesterday at her home, 1807 North Pennsylvania street.

      Mrs. Porter was the widow of Edward B. Porter and the daughter of John W. Ray, former Indianapolis Banker.

      She was the daughter-in-law of ALbert G. Porter, former Governor if Indiana and minister to Rome.

      Mrs. Porter was born in Jeffersonville, and came to Indianapolis when a child

      Surviviors are three daughter: Mrs. Frank R. Kelleff of Washington; Mrs. Katherine P. Varney of Bradenton, Fla. and Mrs. Anne P. Pangborn of Indianapolis.

      Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the FLanner & Buchana mortuary, in charge of the Rev. F. S. C. Wicks.

      Burial will be in Crown HIll Cemetery - Indianapolis Star Jan 18, 1935

      Last rites for Mrs. Carrie Ray Porter, 1807 N. Pennsylvania St., whi died yesterday at her home, will be held at 1:30 tomorrow in the FLanner & Buchanan funeral Home, 25 w. Fall Creek Pkwy., under the direction of the Rev. F. S. C. Wicks.

      Burial will be in Crown Hill.

      Mrs. Porter, who was 80,was a member of a pioneer Indianapolis family, the daughter of John W. Ray, former Indianapolis banker. SHe had lived in Indianapolis most of her life

      Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Frank R. Jelliff, washington; Mrs. Katherine P. Varney, Bradenton, Fla. and Mrs. Anne F. Pangborn, Indianapolis
