Mrs. Louis C. Fritch by this obituary was a sister to Mrs. Ponader
Mrs. Romelia A. Shafer, age 76, well known resident of Nappanee, died this morning at
9:30 o'clock in her home of pneumonia. Mrs. Shafer is survived by five children,
Mrs. G. Ponder and Mrs. L. C. Fritch, of South Bend; Mrs. L. W. Neff of Mishawaka: Earl
Shafer, of Battle Creek, Mich., and Alfred Shafer, of Elkhart, Ind. Funeral services
will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Evangelical church, Nappanee.
The body will lie in state in the church from 12 until 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon,

Mrs. Zula M. Fritch, 80, of 216 Napoleon Blvd., died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's
Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 20, 1893, in Leiters Ford, she had lived here most of her life.
Her husband, Louis C., died May 2, 1968.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John R. Quetsch of McLean, Va.: seven grandchildren and a sister
Mrs. L. W. Neff of Mishawaka.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to'5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hickey Funeral
Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Notre Dame. Rev. Joseph
H. Fey, C.S.C., pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. Fritch was a member of Sacred Heart church and the Circle of Mercy, who will recite a rosary at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the
funeral home.

Louis C. Fritch
Louis C. Fritch, 69, of 216 Napoleon Blvd., died Thursday night in Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was a retired lumber dealer. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
Born Sept. 26, 1896, in Vincennes, Ind., he married the former Miss Zula Shaffer on Sept. 1, 1919.
She survives him along with a daughter Mrs. John R. Quetsch of McLean, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by the Hickey War Funeral Home, veteran.
He and was a World War I veteran and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Notre Dame.
