      Mrs. Perkins DIes; Rites to be Friday

      Private graveside funera;l services for Mrs. Mary M. Perkins, a former Indianapolis resident, will be helf Friday in Crown Hill Cemetery.

      Mrs. Perkins, 80 years old, died Friday at Washington D.C. in the home of her son, Samuel Elliot Perkins IV, a foreign service officer in the Dapertment of State.

      She was born at Crawfordsville and was the wife of the late Samuel Ejliot Perkins III, an Indianapolis lawyer.

      After his death in 1944 she alternated her residence between Lake Maxinkuckee at Culver and Washington.

      Mrs. Perkins waas a member of the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the Ameican Revolution, the Woman's Department Club, the Indiana Audubon Society, the Nature Study Club of Indiana, the Society of Indiana, the SOciety of Indiana Pioneers and Trinity Episcopal Church and a former member of Mount Holyoke Cillege Club, Fortnightly Literary Club and the Propylaeum.

      Formerly she was deputy governor of the Society of Mayflower Decendants in Indiana.

      Survivors besides the son include a daughter Mrs. Susan Setzler of Washington; a sister Mrs. Paul H. Davis of Glenview, Ill., two grandchildren and a freat-grandchild. - - The Indianapolis Star Aug 30, 1961


    Mrs. Mary Perkins Dies At 80 In Washington, D. C.
      Lake Resident For Over 40 Years

      Mrs. Susan Perkins Setzler of 4851 Sedgewick Street, Washington 16, D.C, has informed The Culver Citizen of the death of her mother, Mrs, Mary Milford Perkins, last Friday in the nation's capital.

      The details of Mrs. Perkins' death, are given in the following letter from her daughter:

      " I regret to inform you of the death of my mother, Mrs. Mary Milford Perkins, yesterday [Aug. 25 ] at Sibley Memorial Hospital here in Washington.

      "She had had a heart attack in April, recovery from which was implemented immeasurably by the many good wishes of her Culver friends. A second attack her 80-year-old heart could not withstand.

      "She was descended from a long line of Hoosier pioneers, and inspitr of her many travels, she never lost touch with her beloved Lake Maxinkuckee where she spent her summers on East Shore Drive for more than 40 years.

      Gave Her Glass Collection To Culver Public Library

      "Her civic interest manifested itself in her gift to the Culver Public Library of her outstanding glass collection.

      "She carefully followed Academy activities since her son and grandsons were all students there. "Survivors are a son, Samuel Elliott Perkins IV; a daughter, Susan Perkins Setzler (Mrs. Frank M.); two grandsons, Frank Perkins Setzler and Paul Elliott Setzler; and a great grandson, Frank Ayres Setzler.

      "Private funeral services will be held here Monday, Aug. 28, and interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery at Indianapolis
