Visitation for Dr. Randall L. Mann, 78, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Father Dennis Settles will officiate.

Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital, Riverside Medical Center, Bishop McNamara Catholic High School or to Culver Academies in Indiana.

He died Sunday (Nov. 2, 2008) at Riverside Medical Center.

Dr. Mann was a retired physician who specialized in internal medicine.

He was born April 8, 1930, in Kankakee, the son of Gifford and Marie Granger Mann.

He was a graduate of Kankakee High School, the University of Illinois and the University of Illinois Medical School. He did his residency at the University of Illinois.

He was a former member of local and state medical associations, former president of the Kankakee County Health Department board and current board member of the Kankakee Country Club.

He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister, former president of the St. Martin School board and was on staff at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital and Riverside Medical Center.

Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara J. Galassini, whom he married Sept. 6, 1958, in Chicago; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Mann of Chicago, Dr. Jonathan and Jennifer Mann of Norfolk, Va.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kristi and Marc Wakat, Linda and Brian LeRoy, all of Kankakee, Karen Evans, Jennifer and Thomas Cornelius, all of Westfield, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Ralph Dau of La Canada, Calif.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Linda Mann of Vero Beach, Fla.

Barbara J. Mann, age 87, of Carmel, IN, formerly of Kankakee, died August 2, 2023 in Carmel, IN.

She was born July 28, 1936 in Chicago to Eugene & Barbara Galassini.

Barbara completed nurse’s training at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, IL. She was working in the emergency room at Illinois Research Hospital when she met Dr. Randall Mann.

They married in 1958 and returned to Kankakee where he started a medical practice, and she stayed home to raise six children.

She later returned to school to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology. She worked as a clinical psychologist at Riverside Medical Center for many years.

She loved her work as well as the family of co-workers who have remained loyal friends. While she loved her work, she always said her most important role in life was that of wife and mother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Kristi (Marc) Wakat of Kansas City, MO, Karen Evans of Austin, TX, Linda (Brian) LeRoy of Kankakee, Jennifer (Tom) Cornelius of Westfield, IN, Dr. Jonathan (Jennifer) Mann of Norfolk, VA, and Dr. Jeffrey Mann of San Diego, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Allie, Whitney, Hannah, Paige, Austin, Taylor, Drew, Shelby, Claire, Grace, Charlotte, Davis, and Philip; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Randall Mann and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Maternity B.V.M. in Bourbonnais.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.
