Angelo Cifaldi  

Angelo Cifaldi was born 2 May 1894 in Italy. He immgrated to the United States on March 21 1910 and was naturalized on 25 Mar 1926. He died in Sep 1973 and is buried in the Culver Masonic Cemetery.

Angelo married Marie (Mary) [-?-] she was born on Feb 21, 1903 in Italy. She was naturalized on 6 Dec 1940

A news clip of July 20, 1960 exclaims: "TAKES THE CAKE! Mrs. Angelo. Cifaldi, Culver, was the proud and happy winner. Saturday of a beautifully decorated cake at the Fingerhut."

They lived in Chicago when the 1930 and 1940 census was taken. By the 1940 census Angelo was a laborer/assembler for a radio company; he would of retired about 1959.

His name appears in the 1960 telephone directory for Culver.

Angelo lived at 306 S Main it was a little brown house that sat on the southeast corner of Marmont and Main. The back yard was a haven of flowers, bushes and fruit plants surrounded by a little picket fence. The property remained in the Cifaldi name until ct 1992, Angelo's son Michael deeding it to another person. By Mar 2007 the little brown house was torn down to up up a modular pre-fab.

By a quip in the March 28, 1968 issue Angelo must of wintered in St. Petersburg, Flordia; as it was noted the Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Tusing visited with him during a part of their 2 week trip there.

During the 1960's and till his death he was a constant figure in the town park where he mowed, raked, cleaned up the trash and on Sunday's and holidays would go aorund collecting the rental table fees.

Angelo's son Frank had bought the property across Main street at 303 S. Main on the southwest corner of Marmont & Main. and owned in for several years.

Mr. Agnelo Cifaldi, 306 South Main Street, died Saturday morning, September 1, Parkview Hospital in Plymouth. He had been in ill health for two years.

Mr. Cifaldi was born in Italy on May 2, 1894 to Micheal and Mary (Rosa) Cifaldi. He came to the United States in 1911 and lived in Chicago, Illinois, until his retirement from Commonwealth-Edison Co. there in 1958, when he came to Culver.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church here.

Mr. Cifaldi is survived by two sons, Michael, of Chicago, and Frank, of Culver; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Airdo, of Westchester, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

The Bonine Funeral Home was in charge of arrangments. Services were held Monday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys' with Rev. Joseph A. Lenk, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in Culver Masonic Cemetery - Sep. 6 1973 Culver Citizen
