Michael Baker, from Tiffin, O., enlisted August 16, 1861 in compnay F, Forty-ninth Ohio Volunteer infantry, First Brigade, Second division, Fourth Army Corps, Gen. John A. Logan corps commander. Comrade Baker was in the following engagements viz: Shiloh, Tenn., April 7, 1862; Stone River, Tenn., Decemebr 31, 1862 and January 1,2,3,1863; Liberty Gap., Tenn, june 24, 25, 1863; Chickamauge, Ga. September 19, 20, 1863; Missionary RIdge, Tenn. Novemebr 25,26,27, 1863; Rocky Face Ridge, Ba. May 9,10,. 1864; Resaca, Ga. tow days, d1864; Pickets mills, Ga. May 27, 1864; Kenesaw Mountain, Ga. June 20, 21, 1864; Siege of Atlanta, Ga., July 22 to August 25, 1864; Jonesboro, Ga., September, 1864; Lovejoy's, Ga. September, 1864; Columbia, Tenn., November, 1864; and received a slight wound at the siege of Atlanta, Ga. He was in the service four years, four months and 26 days. He was mustered out Nove 13, 1865. He is now a member of the Speyer Post, Culver, Ind.
