Cynthia "Cindy" Batts Summers

Cynthia "Cindy" Batts Summers, 77, died peacefully on January 9, 2022, from complications related to Alzheimer's disease.

She was survived by her children Shannon (Doug) Campbell, T.J. (Shelly) Summers, Marni Fowler (Josh Lederman) and grandchildren Noah, Carter, Riley, Tanner, Sawyer, Shea and brother Richard Batts.

She was preceded in death by her son Scottie in 1988 and husband Jim in November 2020.

Cindy grew up in Mt Prospect, Illinois and spent summers at Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana.

She attended De Pauw University in Greencastle, IN and moved to California in the 1970s.

Cindy thrived in all aspects of life but her greatest accomplishment was her commitment to her family and friends. Cindy volunteered for everything imaginable and attended activities and events in support of those she loved.

One of Cindy's greatest pleasures and accomplishments was volunteering and serving on the board at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford Hospital for nearly 20 years and played a key role in fundraising activities for the new residence which opened in 2016.

Cindy has been described as welcoming, gracious, inclusive and as the 'kindest person on earth.' Her smile that would light up a room was illuminated by her beautiful spirit. She had room in her heart for everyone and made you feel as if you were the most important person on earth.

Services for both Cindy and Jim will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.

Donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Palo Alto, CA or Partners In Care Hospice in Bend, OR. - - The Mercury News on Jan. 15, 2022.
