1909 Jan 21 - L. B. Simcox last week purchased the hardware stock of J . S. Gast and has instituted a shelf hardware department in his store. He has sold his stock of queensware, stationery, and such other goods to W. E . Hand and hereafter the Culver Department Store will carry only furniture, house furnishings and hardware.

1909 - feb 4 - Jesse Crabb has boguth Ray's Restaurant, owned by H. M. Speyer and Ray Poor. Crabb's new house and lot went in on the deal, and the consideration named in the transfere $900.

1909 Mar 11 - A man named Butler from Starke county has rented the room recently vacated by Gast and will conut a shoe repair shop and refreshment parlor

1909 - April 15 - J . H. Koontz has now in successfull operation a vacuum cleaner which apparently possesses all the elements of a fortune maker. The demonstrating machine was made in Young's machine shop under Mr. Koontz's personal supervision and is perfected in every detail.
