Three-County School Plan Still Alive!  

Union township (Culver) intends to proceed with plans to consolidate with North Bend township of Starke county and Aubbeenaubee township of Fulton county despite the Fulton County and Starke County School Reorganization Committees’ refusal to permit the townships to go outside their respective counties in any reorganization plan.

The three townships will try to consolidate under state school consolidation laws enacted prior to the State School Reorganization Act which was passed by the 1959 General Assembly

Other “Mixed” Counties

The Marshall county committees received formal information Monday from the Kosciusko county committee that Etna township of Kosciusko county was being released for reorganization with Marshall County school districts and then gave its tentative approval to a consolidation that would involve Bourbon and Tippecanoe townships and Etna township of Kosciusko county.

St. Joseph county committee has proposed a merger of

German with Madison township of St. Joseph county; North township of Marshall with Unions township of St. Joseph; and

Polk township of Marshall, Oregon township of Starke county, Johnson township of LaPorte county and Lincoln township in St. Joseph county.
