A group of school officials from Union, Aubbeenaubbee and North townships attended a meeting
in Indianapolis last Thursday with the state school commission representatives.
Frank McLane, superintendent of county School, said the purpose of the meeting was to arrange
a hearing with the commission and get its opinion of the Culver Community School corporation
unit that is being organized under the 1947 law
as amended by section 10 of the 1959 law.
Attending the meting with McLane were: George Stevens of Plymouth, attorney for the
Culver-Aubbeenaubee-North Bend group; Eugene G. Bendict, Union township trustee; Deane
Walker of Plymouth representing W. O. Osborn, Culver; Vernie Bowen Aubbeenaubbee township
trustee; Donald Taylor, Nnorth Bend Trustee; Cedric White, a member of the North Bend
township advisory board and Judd Stinchcomb, Culver.
The commission told the group a meeting would be scheduled within the next couple of weeks
to review the Culver School corporation unit.
The coporation is to include the Fulton and Starke county townships and the Richland township
from Fulton county along with Union township in Marshall county.
On Dec. 12 last year the Marshall County committee divided Marshall county into five school
districts in which they included the two additional school systems with the Culver unit.
