Funeral services for Frank McLane were conducted Saturday at Wesley United Methodist
Church.
McLane, a lifetime resident of Culver, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Thursday at Parkview Hospital
after a brief illness.
He was 74.
McLane was born Oct. 17, 1901 to Ira and Margaret (Bowers) McLane of Culver. He graduated
from Culver High School in 1919 and received a B.A. degree from Depauw University in 1925. He
was later awarded a masters degree from Northwestern University.
An active educator and administrator, McLane was the Marshall County school superintendent from
1952 to 1963 and was the first superintendent of the Culver Community Schools from 1963-66. He retired
in 1966.
His memberships included the Wesley United Methodist Church, Lambda Chi Alpha
social fraternity and the Henry H. Culver Lodge F & AM, where he was a past master.
He was married Feb. 23, 1925 at St. Joseph, Mich, to Alice Overmyer, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Marjorie) Hyde, Annapolis, Md.; a son,
Frank O. McLane,
Fairmont; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild and two sisters, Mrs. June Studebaker,
Thousand Oaks, Ca. and Mrs. Helen Kenndey, Logansport.
He resided at 227 Winfield St. and was preparing to visit Florida on vacation when death
occurred.
McLane was buried in Culver's Masonic Cemetery and the Bonine Funeral Home handled
he arrangements.
