CMA Lagoons
1912 - Nov. 28 - The front lagoon is being filled up. The time honored breeding place of mosquitos
is getting smaller and maller each day. The material with which it is being filled
has been brought from the site of the old mess hall and from the wall which held
the soil. When the work is completed there will be a full sweep of lawn to the
edge of the lake which will and greatly to the beauty of the campus
In 1916 at the advice of Edwin Culver that the grounds was in need of some landscaping attention;
Jens Jensen a landscape architect was hired. His first suggestion was to get rid of the canal system -
and then get rid of all the un-natural foliage in the area and replace it with shrubbery and trees
native to the area. Thus by 1917 the drainage ditch system faded into history.
