the plans for the presentation and dedication for the Logansport gate to the academy on May 20 are now practically complete. logansport it self is on the qui vie with large committees looking after their end of the day's program, and those in charge are talking of an exodus of 4,000 people to Maxinkuckee on that day. The vistitors will dieambark from special trains stopping at the Bogardus crossing. preceded by the band they will pass through a double line of mounted sentinels to the entrance gate. the Logansport and cadet bands will play during the assembling of the audience and, after a few words of greeting from Colonel Gilgnilliat, the following exercises will take place:

  • Address - Governor Ralston
  • Dedication and Address - A. G. jenkins, chairman logansport relieft committee
  • Unveiling of the gate and christtening of th tablet with water from the Wabash river, Miss Helen Fickle
  • "On the Banks of the Wabash" will be played by the combined Logansport and Culver bands during the christening
  • Acceptance on behalf of the academy, Mr. E. R. Culver , president of the board of trustees. Acceptance on the part of the battalion, Cadet Captain Cherry

FOLLOWING THE BAND

Immediately after the dedication exercises the visitors will be escorted through the gates in three sections, each preceded by a band. These sections will be directed to various groves on the grounds where the visitors may comfortably partake of basket luncheons, with iced lemonade and coffee on tap.

SEEING THE ACADEMY

The mess hall, riding hall, gymnasium, open-air barrack, north barrack, administration building and kitchens will be open for inspection immediately after lunch. Officers and cadets will be detailed to show visitors around the grounds, and signs will be placed that the visitors may easliy find their way about the campus.

REVIEW

Governor Ralston will then reveiw a harade held on the parade ground, and the visitors will occupy the cement walks north and west of the field, where seats and benches will be placed to accommodate them.

MILITARY EXCERCISES

Immediately after the reveiw the following will take place on the old calvary field and fairgrounds:
  • 1. Artillery drill & firing etc.
  • 2. Gating gun drill, field wireless, and signaling
  • 3. rifle calesthenics to music
  • 4 Troop drill and ccalvary chrage
  • 5 Wall scaling
  • 6 Music ride by Black Horse Troop
  • 7 Exhibition drill by the Boy Scouts of Logansport
  • 8 Rough riding exhibition by the black horse troop
  • 9 Sham battle
BRIDGE BUILDING AND BOAT RIDE

wistors will return to the parade grounds, cross the lagoon on military bridges built by the cadets wile they wait. The visitors will then take a cutter ride on the lake and renew old experiences.

the guests will leave in the evening at the Bogardus crossing.
