Burkett Cottage Burns  

Burkett Cottage is Destoyed by Fire

The Burkett cottage in the Assembly Frounds was completely destroyed by fire early Staursay morning.

It is stated that a grass fire started the blaze and threatened nearby buildings.

Prompt action by the fire department saved the adjoining property, the ttruck getting under way in five minutes in spite of the fact that the call came at about 2:30 a.m. - 3 Jul 1933
