Schultz Subdivision

This is the from the biological survey of the lake dated 1900.

This is the way the area looked pre 1980's before the railroad bed was leveled off to near road level.

The picture to right shows all the six lots and easement that make up the Schults Subdivision which was the Vandailia railroad right of way. The Pennsylvania Railroad bankruptcy occurred on June 21, 1970. The first part of the line to go was between Nutwood and Culver , which was abandoned in 1973 and removed in 1974. The second piece to go was from Culver to Logansport which was abandoned in 1974 and removed in 1976. These are at present empty lots and in back of this the West Shore Circle or Allen's Woods The numbering system for this area varied from numbers to numbers and also some had a just "TBA" (to be announced); the last being 375 at the south end to 501 at the north end.

It is now known as West Shore circle the legal name attached to the properties is 'Allen's First Addition' but the area had also over the years been refered to as 'Allens Woods' and in 1993 this was listed as Westwood Circle Also the numbering system for this area varied from numbers to numbers and some had none but a notation "TBA" (to be announced)

Across the road from here is where the Arlington Depot or flag stop station stood; it was there to service the Arlington Hotel. It is noted on some of the early plat maps.

The house of Treasures was owned by Virginia Glackman and the House of Treasures building sat across the road on the non-lakefront, even tho it has an even number of "722" by this picture. In about 1958-1961 it was moved to 824 N Lakeshore today's home of Pappa's.

Outlet of Lake Maxinkuckee to Little Lake, Lost Lake, Little Maxinkuckee or Hawk Lake - through the years it has been known by all of these names. Hawk Lake seems to have been associated with it more than any other name. This is because of the farm that bordered all of the lake area back in the 1800's - some of it still remains in the Hawk family today. Lawrence and Veenice (Hawk) White - built a home on its banks on Tamarack Road; the Hawk homestead barns still sit along the lakes banks and across the road is the old farm house. David and Catharine (Filar) Hawk Settled upon this land in the early 1850's.
