For 17 years (1906-1923) Arthur B. Holt carried out the finest traditions of country weekly journalism as the editor and publisher of the Culver Citizen.

He died on June 28, 1938 at the age of 87. This photograph was taken on his 80th birthday.

Mrs. Holt who helped her distinguished husband publish the Citizen, died at the age of 92 on June 3 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She was one of the first women in the United States to operate a Linotype machine.

Before coming to Culver in 1906, Mr. Holt had been associated with his father Charles Holt and brother, Clarence in the operation of the Kankakee (Ill.) Daily Gazette, a forerunner of the Kankakee Journal.

He is survived by a son, Arthur, of Los Angles, and a daughter, Mrs. B. B. Ferris, 975 Cobb Blvd. Kankakee, Ill.
