I is quite appropriate to have with us today Mr. Strang, who has received word of ohoi reappointment as postmaster here.

He has jost completed his first term of four years and is in the afantageoud position of holding the office at the stime the new civil service bill for postmasters goes into effect.

Mr. Strang was born on a farm near Teengarden, Ind., and came to Culver yin September, 1912. After working at the Academy for fine and a half years he purchased a barber shop opposite of the depot, and later operated it in conjunction with a shop in the main business section.

After a shor time he formed a partnership with his brother, the lat Sam Stran, and closed the other two businesses. He continued this partnership until his appointment as postmaster four years ago.


Fletcher has contributed his share in serving the community, having served four years as a member of the town board, four years on the township advisory board, and two years on the Culver-Union Council of Churches

Former Postmaster Dies in Texas

Fletcher T. Strang, age 77, well known former Culver Postmaster, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Pharr, Texas, following a two-week illness.

Mr. Strang was born Sept 14, 1886, in Marshall county and had resided in Culver since 1913. He was married dec. 23, 1908, in Nappanee in to the former Elywn Franklin and the couple marked their 55th wedding anniversary last December.

After Mr. Strang's retirement from the post office in 1957, the Strangs have been spending the winters in texas.

Mr. Strang was a member of the Culver Methodist Church and the Henry H. Culver Masonic Lodge.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Fletcher F., Denver, col.; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Ott of Culver; a sister, Mrs. Lodemn Thornburg of Culver, and four grandson.
