The Maxinkuckee Mummers will stage a benefit performance for the family of the late Alfred
Cromley in the Culver Community Building on Monday, August 13th.
The play is being sponsored by the members of the Culver Fire Department, headed by Wayne
Von Ehr, and it is hoped that a sizeable fund can be raised for the bereaved family of Fire
Chief Cromley, who lost his life in the tragic accident two weeks ago.
Dr. Mackey in Charge. The members of the Town Board have pledged their support and Dr. C. G.
Mackey has been chosen to take charge of all arrangements.
Among others who have offered to cooperate in every way possible are W. O. Osborn, A. R. McKesson,
C. I. Ferrier, Albert Collier, Oliver Shilling, O. T. Goss, Ben Oberlin, John Mitchell, M. H.
Ewald, Otto Stabenow, Harry Medbourn, Earl Foreman and M. R. Robinson.
The play to be given is a comedy which proved to be a real success at the Academy last Friday night.

Goodrich.

TICKETS ON SALE FOR BENEFIT SHOW
Cadet Jazz Band to be Added Attraction Monday.
Through the cooperation of Major O'Callaghan the Culver Summer School Jazz Band will, as an added attraction,
play before the play and between the acts of the benefit performance which is to be given for Alfred Cromley's
bereaved family next Monday night, August 13, at the High School gymnasium.
The jazz band is made up of members of the regular Summer School band, and has played at several of the
performances at the Academy.
Dr. C. G. Mackey, who has been in charge of all arrangements, states that everything is progressing satisfactorily.
Announcement posters have been placed around town, and the ticket sale campaign, which is being carried on by the
members of The Culver Fire Department headed by Wayne Von Ehr, is already well under way.
The members of the fire department will also act as ushers at the performance.
The name of the play to be given is "Up Pops the Devil," a light, highly amusing comedy, with many ridiculous scenes.
It was because of the great enthusiasm with which the play was greeted at the Academy two weeks ago that it was chosen
as the play to be given at the benefit.

BENEFIT PLAY NETS BETWEEN $150-$160
Mummers Stage Highly Successful Play Monday.
The Alfred Cromley benefit performance, which was staged by The Maxinkuckee Mummers at the Community
Building Monday night, netted between $150 and $160.
Much of the credit for the financial success of the play should go to Dr. C. G. Mackey, who was in charge
of all arrangements, and to Wayne Von Ehr and the other members of the fire department who solicited tickets.
Besides being a financial success the play was also highly enjoyed by the audience, and the Maxinkuckee Mummers
and Captain C. C. Mather, upon whom the burden of the technical work fell, deserve the thanks of the community
for their efforts.
Deserving of thanks also is the Academy, who through its representative W. E. Friend, cooperated in every possible
way.
The money which the benefit earned will be turned over at an early date to Mrs. Alfred Cromley by Dr. C. G. Mackey
as a token of sympathy from the entire community.
There was a conflict of interest resulting as evidence by letters found as follows:
