Francis R. "Bud" Cartwright, 61, passed away at 3:26 a.m. on June 20, 2012 in Marion General
Hospital.
Mr. Cartwright was born in Plymouth, Indiana on February 6, 1951 to the late Richard and
Virginia M. (Aman) Cartwright, Sr.
Mr. Cartwright spent most of his life in Plymouth before coming to Converse in 1997.
He was a decorated United States Army veteran and served two tours in Vietnam (1968-1970) in
the Americal 23rd Division Infantry while stationed in Chu Lai, Vietnam. Active duty caused
Mr. Cartwright to experience PTSD. He was reminded that not all wounds from service connection
are visible.
Mr. Cartwright spent most of his professional career in town government. He retired as the
Converse Town Superintendent in 2003.
He also was a volunteer fireman with Culver Volunteer Fire Department.
On July 7, 2007 he married Beth E. Julius. She survives in their Converse home.
Mr. Cartwright was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Amvets.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and volunteering with the VA Northern Indiana Health Care
Systems in Marion.

Mr. Cartwright is also survived by his son, Richard (Johnna) Cartwright, Plymouth; daughter, Shelly
Marsiliano, Plymouth; five step children, David (Pia) Hall, Cary, North Carolina; Jacob Chapman,
Converse; Krista (Junior) Sutton, Bourbon, Hannah Chapman, Bozeman, Montana; Abbie Chapman, Gas
City; four brothers, Bob Grover, Middlebury, Richard (Carol) Cartwright, Jr., Clyde (Debra)
Cartwright, Charles (Linda) Cartwright, all of Plymouth; one sister, Bonita (James) Berndt, Knox;
four grandchildren, Riley and Justin Cartwright, Plymouth; Adam and Melissa Lolmaugh, Plymouth;
five step grandchildren, Heather (David) Webb, Akron, Joe, Abby, Aiden, Gavin Hall, Cory, North
Carolina; several great-grandchildren; special friends, Marlene and Dick Shoddy, Culver, Indiana.
He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 28 years, Rose Hall Cartwright.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home,
Larrison-Martin Chapel, 308 East Marion Street, Converse, Indiana with the Rev. Wyatt Smith officiating.
Mr. Cartwright will be buried with full military honors in Marion National Cemetery at noon on Tuesday, J

ROSEMARY (ROSIE) CARTWRIGHT Rosemary (Rosie) Cartwright, 62, of Converse, Indiana, passed away,
Saturday, May 13, 2006 at her residence.
Rosie was born on January 20, 1944, to Hap and Isabelle (Wright) Burt.
Rosie was married to Bud Cartwright.
She had lived in Converse for the past six years.
She was a former secretary for an insurance company and was a member of Converse United Methodist
Church.
She was also a volunteer for the Miami County Emergency Medical Agency, where she served as
lieutenant.
Rosie is survived by her husband, Bud Cartwright; her daughter, Krista Sutton of Culver, Indiana;
her son, David Hall of North Carolina; her step-son, Richard Cartwright of Plymouth, Indiana;
eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 30 foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hap and Isabelle (Wright) Burt; her brother, Buck Bert;
and her sister, Sue Mitchell.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 20, 2006, at 1:00 p.m., at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME,
300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
There will be a time of visiting with the family, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Saturday at the
VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, before the service.
