Henry Listenberger

We have with us today on of Culver 's two original fireman - Henry Listenberger.

With Mont Foss and others Henry formed the volunteer company that ragged a hose cart to fires as the start of the outfit that today responds to alarms with the finest of equipment.

Until five or six years ago, Mr. Listenberger was always on the job throughout all these years to do his part in fighting fires. He was born in Peoria, Miami county, Ind., where he attended school. After working in a store in that town, he operated a saw mill in Grant county for 12 years before coming to Culver

For 16 years he ran a livery stable here before old dobbin gave away to the invasion of the so-calle3d horseless carriage.

Then he operated a store in several locations before retiring about five years ago.

Now he and Neighbor Cromley are to be found almost every day sunning themselves in front of the Ray Cromley home, the above being Mr. Listenberger's favorite seat. - Culver Citizen Profile
