A BOYHOOD IDOL, of this writer passed away Tuesday when Alvin Tripler, 48, a three year-starting guard in the late 1950's for the preconsolidation Culver Indians, died at HOly Cross Parkview Hospital

Triplet was a starter on Culver's 1957 Marshall County championship team under Coach Ralph Pedersen and finished his career under the late Bob Gilbert.

Memories from childhood tend to get better over the years, but I still think Alvin was one of the greatest passers I ever saw.

Triplet was also a pitcher on the Indian's basebal team. As a senior he one lost a bid for a no-hit game when a seventh-inning ground ball went past a sophomore first baseman with little range n his right. Seniors often can be hard on underclasmen, but ALvin wnet out of his way to console the youngster, who flet badly about not prpotecting the no-hitter.

A leader in ommunity affairs and espeially athletics, Alvin Tripler will be sorely missed around CUlver - and arounf here by that one-time first baseman.

Friends may call at Bonine Funeral home, Culver, from 2 p.. Thursday until noon friday and then at the church untill time of services.

Memorial c otributios may be given to the Culver Little League Association.
