Illinois-based Elkay, in business for 93 years, began in stainless steel sinks and about 20 years ago expanded into the cabinetry business. The company had purchased Minnesota-based Medallion back in 1993. In 2005, the company finally started cabinet production (under the Medallion banner) in Culver, and last year undertook major renovations of the plant and its equipment, with plans announced to continue expanding production to meet sales in national-level chains.

2005-6 Medallion Cabinets comes to Culver ; they are a part of Elkay Companies. Extensive re-modeling of the Walker building was done. The first cabinet rolled off the assembly line in June of 2005 and the official open house occurred 16 Oct. 2006.

    MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will be the keynote speaker at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, October 16 at Medallion Cabinetry, Inc.’s, new manufacturing facility located in Culver. approximately 150 special guests and dignitaries are expected to attend the event, which will be followed by a public open house from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m

    Medallion did extensive renovation to modernize the former Tenneco Automotive facility. The renovation took eight months and incorporated some of the latest in woodworking equipment and technology. The 275,000 square foot plant produces Medallion’s entire line of semi-custom cabinetry. These products will be distributed to Medallion’s customers on the East Coast and Southeast area of the country. The plant is expected to employ up to 330 people by the third year of operation.

    The facility is located at 515 W. Mill Street in Culver, Indiana.

Medallion Cabinetry,Inc., located in Culver , Marshall County,will invest in refurbishing its newly purchased plant acquiring new equipment and hiring labor to begin producing cabinetry in Culver . As a result of the project the Company has committed to hire 412 new Indiana employees.

IEDC approved EDGE credits in the amount of $3,100,000 over a period of 10 years. The is in the process o f entering into an agreement with Medallion cabinetry. - - IEDC Memorandum March 30 2007.

2011 - Rick Coffman bcame plant manager - coming from Modern Door Corporation in Walkerton.

2011 - June - name changes to Elkay

2012 - undertook major renovations of the plant and its equipment, with plans announced to continue expanding production to meet sales in national-level chains. This allows running running the traditional and framless cabinet on the same line.

Currently, Elkay in Culver employs around 260. Put in new lighting T5 type which made things better and saving energy.

2013 - Feb 2017 - CULVER, Ind. (WNDU) Wed 9:54 PM, Mar 29, 2017 - A Culver manufacturing firm has big expansion plans. Elkay Wood Products will spend $3.9 million buying and installing new equipment at its Culver facility. Elkay has been in town since 1920 {sic 2005} and mainly makes wooden cabinets. It now employs 300 workers.
