SEINING WAS COSTLY

Chauncy Overmyer pleads Guilty

For Himself and John Doe THE MEN ARE FINED $33 EACH

WATCHMAN IS NOW GUARDING, THE STATE.

Chauncy D. Overmyer who was caught fishing, with a large gill net in lake Maxinkuckee last Thursday by E. E. Earl, chief warden of the. League oŁ American Sportsmen, and taken to Plymouth and lodged in jail, way brought to trial in the court there Saturday where he plead guilty to the charge of illicit fishing for both himself and John Doe, who was with him but evaded the officers and co uld not be captured, and was fined each $33, making $66 for their illegal sport and game.

The sein which was found in possession of the men was destroyed by the officers and a sharp look out will now be kept up to prevent such violations. To do this Commissione Earl has stationed a man keep constant watch at the lake to for the next three weeks to prevent others from the big catches which now and for the next three weeks is quite easy.

This is made so because the bass during this time of the year are found in the inlets where they go to try to getup the small streams to lay their eggs; this they also do in the fall seaon. It was in the inlets where Overmyer and Doe were doing their fishing and were thus able to succeed in the big catch. By spreading their net cross the inlet and driving the fish down toward the lake they had the finney tribe at their absolute mercy and co uld easily get all they co uld desire. As it was however, in their being captured at the business the bass cost the two men over a dollar or each fish taken out by them.
