1895 - Nov 12 - MAXINKUCKEE ICE CO.
Purest and Clearest Ice in the State.
Two years ago the ice men of this city were obliged to compete with a formidable rival in the Maxinkuckee Lake
Ice company.
This company, as the name implies, harvests its entire supply of ice from the beautiful lake of Maxinkuckee. It
is pot necessary to dwell upon the purity of the lake water a9 its clearness and absolute freedom from impurities
of any kind assure the biguest quality of ice.
When the company first began supplying ice to Logansport citizens, one wagon was put in the field. Later a second
was added, and last season both were taxed far beyond their capacity to supply the consamers. The coming season
three wagons will be ran, and judging from the patronage accorded company, it is safe to say that the three will
be crowded with orders.
Besides the business in this city the company has offices at Indispapolis, Eransville, Terre Haute, Marmont and
South Bend.
Much of the company's success here is due to their bustling and popular manager, Joseph Deitrich, whose. wide the
acqusintance and familiarity with ice business eminently qualify him to conduct the business,
If you want good, pure ice the Makinkuckoe Lake Ice company, 511 Broadway will fill your orders promptly --

1900 - Jan 30 - Local Ice Matters
A New Firm Organized to Deal in the Article
The local office of the Maxinkukcee Ice Company refuses to confirm the
statement that the manufacture of ice would cease in South Bend this year.
When asked if there was any truth in the statement made several days ago
the local management expressed both surprise and ignorance on the subject
and stated that it had heard nothing of any such arrangement.
The management, however confirmed that report that Messers Beck and
Hollingsworth had severed their connection with the Madinkuckee company
and would during the present year start another company.
It is thought that the new company will deal solely in lake ice and will
not attempt to manufacture the article. South Bend Tribune (Indiana)

1910 - June 24 Acquires Business of Maxinkuckee Company
Co-operative Concern Consmmated Long Pending Ice Deal
Arrangements were completed today whereby the Co-operative Ice &
Fuel Company will take over the good will of the business and the
rolling stock of the Maxinkuckee Lake Ice Company
The territory is being terouted and a formal transfer of the horse
wagons and equipment will be made Monday.
The ice business formerly conducted at Mand and Sample streets will
be merged with that of the Co-operative concerm at 427 East LaSalle
Avenue.
All wagons will then leave from the east side barns.
The Co-operative company has been working on the deal for some times.
The Maxinkuckee concern has not been making artifical ice, but has
been supplying patrons with the product secured from Lake Maxinkuckee
and from the Notre Dame lakes under lease by the Co-operative company.
The Notre Dame lakes are spring fed and ice from there will be
delivered to the residence districts for the co-operative wagons.
It is the belief of the Co-operative company that by a consolidation of the
businesses and a re-arranglement of routes it will be possible to deliver
ice to a better advantage ande insure reliable and quicker delivery.
Two wagons will not cover the same route as in the past and with the four
wagons and teams secured in the deal with the Maxinkuckee company it will
be possible to handle the business with dispatch.
W. B. Hollinsworth, manager of the Maxinkuckee Lake Ice company, will in the
future devote his entire energies to the manufacture of ice cream and will
retain his headquarters at Main and Sample Streets. - - South Bend Tribune
