1950 - Aug 23 - LAKE ASSOCIATION TO HOLD ANNUAL MEETING
    The annual meeting of the Lake Maxinkuckee Association, Inc., will be held in the assembly room of the State Exchange Bank, Tuesday evening, August 29. at 8:00 p. m.

    Any property owner on the Lake who is interested in the Association is invited to attend. - Citizen


1950 - Aug 30 Don Tron Elected President of the Lake Maxinkuckee Assn.
    Don Trone was elected 1950-51 president of the Lake Association at the annual meeting of the zone representatinfe of the Association held Sunday afternoon at the East Shore home of Mrs. Lucy O'Neal, retiring president.

    Offices of the association and members of the board of directors held their annual meeting in the lounge of the State Exchange Bank last evening.

    Reports of the officers showing efforts during the past year towards achieving greater saftey on the lake and shore roads and sanitation were presented.

    Dr. K. K. Kraning was named vice president of the Association at the annual election and Carl Adams was re-eclecte secretary-treasurer.

    Members of the 1950-51 board of directors include: Dr. Milan D. Baker, Mrs. Lucy O'Neal, Donald Hand, Raymond O. Gass, Fred Wallstead, Robert Rust, Mrs. Herschel Rector, and W. O. Osborn.

    The tresurer stated that the membership dues of $15 pre year are now due and payable. Dues may be paid to Carl M. Adams. - Citizen

1951 - May 25 - MAXINKUCKEE PLANS MAPPED:
    Patrolman Hired at Lake; Equipment Planned. The Tribune's Special Service. CULVER, Ind., May 25. - Directors of the Lake Maxinkuckee association, who met this week in the band lounge for the first conference of the season, appointed Capt. James I. Rich patrolman until June 1 on a part-time basis, and from June 1 to Sept. 15 full time. The motorcycle patrol will be equipped with a complete Red Cross first-aid kit, fire e xtinguisher, tow-chain, hand axe and shovel, for the assistance of any person needing help. Arrangements are being made with boat houses and Culver Military acadlemy, as well as with the Culver fire department for the use of rescue boats and pulmotor service. Posters showing all driving and motor boat regulations, sanitation numbers suggestions and a list of telephone to be called in emergencies, are being distributed to all summer homes, boat houses and public places around the lake. The association also will inaugurate a new service for the registration of all families renting summer homes, so that in emergencies these people may be found either by the Culver police, the Lake safety patrol, or the sheriff's office. 1951 - May 16 Lake Association Places Capt. Rich On Active Duty For 1951 Season
    An indication that the 1951 summer season is near at hand is contained in the announcement that the Lake Maxinkuckee Association has assigned its patrolman, Jim Rich, to duty.

    Don Trone, president of the Association, announced that Captain Rich was placed on duty for the first time this season last week end. He will be on duty on the weekends only for the next two weeks.

    On June 1 he will be on full time patrolling the lake shore roads and the lake.

    Patrolling the shore roads and the lake is just one of the civic activities of the Lake Association.

    This service is intended to be a service feature affording greater safety on the lake and on the roads.

    President Trone has announced that directors and officers of the Lake Maxinkuckee Association will meet Friday evening, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the lounge of the State Exchange Bank. The report of the secretary-treasurer will be presented and other items of consequence will be discussed.

1951 - Aug. 22 - Lake Maxinkuckee Assn. Meeting Friday Evening
    The 1951 annual meeting of the Lake Maxinkuckee Associa tion, civic organization of Lake cottagers, will be held next Friday evening, Aug. 24, at 7:30 p. m. in the lounge of The State Exchange Bank.

    The annual meeting of the zone representatives of the Association will be held at the same time.

    Officers of the Association urge all members to attend this annual meeting where matters of great importance will be discussed.

1952 - Jul 2 - Inquiries On Renumbering Plan Sent Out by Maxinkuckee Assn.
    Inquiries to all property owner adjoining Lake Maxinkuckee have been sent out by the Lake Maxinkuckee Association asking for approval of a submitted plan for renumbering cottages

    The committee on renumbering assignments appointed by President Done G. Trone states that it is important that replies be sent in promptly

    Sponsored by the Lake Association, the approved recommendation of the committee headed by Walker W. Winslow, is a studied system of numbering.

    The letter recently sent out esplains, "The recommendations follow a practice, easily inderstoong plan which will enable residents and visitors alike to simply locate any property around the lake

    This is of particular importance to the fire department, postal authoriries and other utilities.


1952 - Jul 16 - Mrs. H. L. Rector Elected President of Lake Association
    Mrs. H. L. Rector was elected president of the Lake Maxinkuckee Association, Inc., at the annual meeting of the group, composed of property owners and summer residents about the lake, held in the Lounge of the State Exchange Bank last Friday evening.

    The newly elected president succeeds Don Trone, retiring president.

    Other officers named b y the Association include: Dr. K. K. Kraning, vice president; and Carl M. Adams, who was re-elected secretary-treasurer.

    Elected to the board of directors were: Don Trone, Dr. Milan Baker, Don Hand, Perry O'Neal, Peirce C. Ward and Robert Rust.

    In addition to the election of officers, several reports were presented.

    DOn Hand reported on the progress of the sewage dosposal system which is now being constructed

    The necessity of securing greater cooperation on the part of all cottagers in preventing polution from homes about the lake was discussed.

    Walker Winslow, chairman of the Roads division committee, gave a detailed report on the system for a ne and practical system for numbering all propertu on the Lake.

    Worl will start soon on the painting of the mumbers on mail boses it was indicated. The association is sponsoring the development of the numbering project.

    A further discussion on the possibility of a Roadside Park along State road 17 on the West side of the Lake was brought up for discussion.

    A report on the patrolling of roads was presented by Capt. J. I. Rich - Citizen

1953 - May 7 - LAKE PATROL STARTS MAY 15 < ul> Captain James I. Rich has accepted the appointment of the Lake Maxinkuckee Association and will again serve as patrolman of the shore road and the Lake.

Capt. Rich will begin his work on a part time basis on May 15 and in June on a full time basis

1953 - Jul 5 - Directory Guide To Maxinkuckee
    The Tribune's Special Service. CULVER, Ind. - A directory listing properties along shore roads of Lake Maxinkuckee and published by the Lake Maxinkuckee Association, has been released.

    The listing is based on a detailed survey made last year by a committee appointed by the Association.

    Properties are identified through numbering. Col. Walker Winslow was chairman of the committee which made the study and supervised the publishing of the directory. - South Bend Tribune

    Annual Meeting Reviews Success Of Sanitation And Safety Programs

    The annual meeting of the Lake Maxinkuckee Association Monday night at the Bank Lounge was featured by a draft of President Allan P. Ramsay of Chicago and Culver for a second term despite his convincing the nominating committee that he was unavailable.

    Col. Walker W. Winslow, the nominating committee's choice for president in view of Mr. Ramsay's refusal to run, led the successful draft movement. Carl M. Adams presented the report.

    Admiral John W. Bays of the Culver Military Academy is the organization's new vice president.

    Don G. Trone, one of the association's earlier presidents, will continue his efficient work as secretary-treasurer.

    The Lake Maxinkuckee Association is a permanent organization of cottagers and year-round residents.

    Its program is to promote and maintain safety on Shore Roads and on the waters of the Lake. and to advance sanitation measures beneficial to all Lake properties.

    Treasurer Trone reported that 105 of the potential 200 members had paid their 1953, dues of $15.

    William R. Krafft reported on the work of the Lake Safety Committee. P. C. Ward for the Road "Committee, and Walker W. Winslew for the Sanitation Committee.

    Substantial progress was made by all three committees during the year.

    David Burns, chief of the Culver-Union Township Fire Department, thanked the association for its generous donation of several hundred dollars' worth of new equipment this past year and for its sizable contribution toward the purchase of the new jeep for fighting grass fires.

    Capt. James I. Rich, veteran patrolman who will retire on Aug. 1, was given an ovation for his exceptional service. His successor, James Cox, was introduced.

    Harvey Phillips, Marshall County sheriff, praised the association for its effective safety program.

    Harry Lower, police officer of the State Conservation Department, gave a most interesting and enlightening talk about the mounting problems of safety on both the Shore Roads and the Lake.

    Officer Lower stated: "We have just too many cars for our roads. Traffic around the Lake has increased 400% in four years."

    Officer Lower also stressed the number of serious power boat mishaps in Northern Indiana this year and issued a sharp warning locally.

      May 2 - The Lake Maxinkuckee Association will purchase a new patrol car ito replace the familiar motorcycle used by the association for the past several years.

      Purchased 1st patrol car at $1500 a Chevrolet 2-door

      1956 - June 20 - A brand new 1956 Chevrolet Police oar has been put in service by the Lake Maxinkuckee Association and will be used to patrol the roads around the Lake during the Summer. The automobile will replace the familiar motorcycle which had been in use several years
