Paving Lakeshore Dr. - 1914

1914 - Jul 30 - ROAD WORK HAS STARTED The work on the paving and gravel road improvements has finally started...

Contractor Kelleber of Frankfort put a force of six teams and 12 or 14 men on the excavating and grading of South Main street.

Sand and brick will arrive in a few days, and the work will be pushed to an early completion. John C. Butler is inspector of the work and Ted Spray is time keeper

A disagreement arose on Monday between the contractor and the town as to the ownership of the dirt taken from the street.

The contract is somewhat contradictory on this point. The matter was finally adjusted satisfactorily, after a visit to Plymouth, by the town taking the dirt from the Evangelical church to the corner of Scott street and Lake View avenue, and the the dirt south of the Evangelical church and from Lake View avenue to the top of Bunker Hill.

1914 Aug. 6 - The Street Work.

Scott street is plowed up as far as the depot and the scrapers are not far behind. From tbe depot to the top of Bunker Hill the street will not be torn up until the paving is completed to tbe depot. The brick has been shipped and will be bere today. Then the laying of tbe sand bed and the work of the brick-layers will start.

1914 - Sep 3 - Paving and Road Work.
The brick bas been laid as far as Lake View avenue on Scott street. For two or three days traffic to the depot will be suspended, and for some time longer travel between the academy and town will have to make a circuit from the top of Bunker Hill around the Dillon farm and into Culver past the public school building.

1914 - Sep 10 - The Paving. The curbing on both sides of tbe street from the depot to the top of Bunker bill has been completed, and the last stretch of paving is in hand. The grading from Lake View avenue to the top of Bunker bill will be completed to day, and the pavers will begin at the top of the hill and work toward the depot. It looks as if Mr. Kelleber and his superintendent, Harry Harris, will be able to finish the work by Sept. 20.
