Clipping - Roy Justice Badly hurt - Dived into Lake and Rendered Unconscious by His
Striking head - Rescued by Companions - Camping Expedition of Several Young Men
Marred to the Accident to One of Them - - Roy Justice, aged twenty-one, is in a
serious condition at the home of his father Frank Justice south of town as a res ult
of an accident Saturday at Lake Maxinkuckee. Justice with John Logan, Al Mucker and
Joy Jones went to the lake for a few days camp and all went in bathing Saturday
evening. Justice dived from a pier into the water where it was shallow and struck
his head with terrific force against the bottom. He was rendered unconscious and
would have drowned except for the quick action of his companions in dragging him
to shore. A physician was called and after working with Justice for some time said
he was paralyzed from the shock. Dr. James Stanton went to the lake and accompanied
the injured boy home. He was taken to the Justice farm in an amb ulance. He was
somewhat improved yesterday, but it is feared that he may be permanently crippled."

He May Not Recover - Roy Justice, former high school student, son of Frank Justice,
south of the city,, while diving from a pier at Lake Maxinkuckee Sunday struck
bottom in shallow water sustaining an injury to the spine which res ulted in paralysis
of the limbs. He was a member of the Stag Club of this city and was camping with
the boys at the lake. Following the injury he was cared for by Culver physicians
when Dr. James Stanton, of this city, brought the boy to this city and conveyed
to his home in an amb ulance. Justice was reporter recovering last evening, but it
is feared that the injury may have permenant effects. Among the campers who were
with him and who saved him from drowning and hastened medical assistance were:
John Logan, Albert Meecker, Roy Jones, Ernest Thomas, James Justice, and Robert
Gibbard, all of this city."

Entertained about the Young Man - Roy Justice was injured recently at Lake Maxinkuckee
by diving from a pier and who is now at the home of his father, Frank Justice, south
of the city is reported to be in serious condition and fears and entertained for his
recovery. Young Justice dived into the lake where the water was shallow and struck
his head on the bottom rendering him unconscious."

Young man injured at the lake is expected to regain us of his limbs - Roy Justice
who was so seriously injured by diving into the water at Lake Maxinkuckee, is
improving slowly. Physicians say that a blood clot has formed on the spinal column
between the seventh and eight rib. It is believed that the clot can be dissolved,
but if not it will be necessary to perform an operation. Justice is able to move
his hands and arms and sensatation has returned to his limbs but he is unable to move
them."

May Loss Life by Dive in Lake Maxinkuckee {Special to the Indianapolis News}
Logansport, Ind. July 27 - Roy Justice, eighteen years, Old was brought to his home
in this city from Lake Maxinkuckee last evening, in a semi-conscious condition.
In diving from one of the piers at the lake his head struck a stone and he was
rendered unconscious. Companions who were swimming with him dived to the bottom
when he did not come up and brought his body to the surface. It had only been
submerged a few seconds and there was no fear that life was extinct from drowning.
He was unconscious from the blow which he had received in striking the stone.
Physicians worked over him along time before he regained consciousness. Then he
was only part conscious and he now lies at his home in a dazed condition. There is
fear he will not recover."
He did recover and lived till 11 Feb. 1926 - but was paralyzed and in wheel chair
for the rest of his life.
