Nathan H. Oglesbee was twice elected treasurer, coming in on the tidal wave of the newly organized Republican Party, which was assisted by the American Party, commonly known as the Know Nothings. He was a gentleman of good business qualifications, pleasant manners, attended strictly to business and performed the duties of his office with honor to himself and satisfaction to the people.
