"fill 'er up", "Gimme five", are the words that usually greet Gordon Cultice
as he waits on a customer at the Marathon Service Station, of which he is manager.
Gordon was born in Hibbard, attended grade school at the old Shaw School, started his
high school work in Culver, and was graduated from the Thorntown Township High School at
Harvey, Ill. He then worked for the Buda Motors in Harvey for a year, at the Academy here
for a like period, after which he attended Tri-State College at Angola, Ill., for a year.
On Febraury 1, 1934 [sic another account in the culver citizen states - 1934 - Feb 7 - Harold Robinson became manager of the Linco Service Station],
he became manager of the Linco Station, which is no known as the Marathon, where he was a cheery welcome for all.
