    FRANK HARWOOD, RETIRED, DIES A AGE OF 89 YEARS

    Was Member of Board of Directors of First National Bank

    The funeral of Frank M. Harwood 89, prominent retired merchant and a director of the First National Bank, who died yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock at his home on Eel River avenue, will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock from the residence, in charge of the Rev. J. S. Corkey of Calvary Presbyterian church.

    Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.

    The family requests that flowers he omitted.

    Mr. Harwood was a merchant tailor, retiring from business in 1890.

    He was the youngest director of the First National Bank, and lived to be the oldest of the board of director's of that institution.

    He had been in failing health for some time due to his age. He had been confined to his home for the past three weeks, after falling on the street on his way to a directors' meeting.

    Francis M. Harwood was born in Maysville, Kentucky, January 25,1834.

    He came to Cass county with his parents in 1840. His father died in 1843 and the family removed to Logansport, and he remained a resident of this city throughouthis life.

    He was bound to George Dagen when he was twelve years old, to learn the shoe making trade. This work was distasteful to him and he ran away to Niles, Mich., where he learned the tailor trade. He returned to Logansport some years later and worked for John M. Ewing until he went into business for himself. His career was uniformly successful.

    Mr. Harwood was united in marriage to Miss Margaret E. Williamson in 1856, and she preceded him in death eight years.

    Mr. Harwood and his wife occupied the same pew in the First Presbyterian church, now Calvary Presbyterian church, for a period of forty years.

    He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William J. Murphy of New Castle, Ind. - THE LOGANSPORT MORNING PRESS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1923

Mr. Harwood has been a member of the east side lake colony for many years, and hhis fenial nature endeared him to all who knew hi,. He lest an estatre of $65.700 which goes to a sister Mrs. Ne Harwood Murphy of Newcaste. - 9 Jan 1924
