Lake Maxinkuckee Its Intrigue History & Genealogy Culver, Marshall, Indiana

18550 St. Rd. 10

The little white house that stood on this corner was tore down in the late 1970's to early 1980's My parents (Alvin R McKee & Reba D (Emery) McKee lived there from about 1953/4 to 1959/60; dad was a farm hand for the Dillon's

The layout then - the black circles is approximately where the house stood; the 3 divided ares to the west the south square contained a raspberry patch; the middle area was our garden area ; there was a walk way between the two houses about midway between the garden area from the back door of the white house to the Dillion house on the north they had the garen area to the north of ours between the two houses.; the last north square had farm machinery sheds on it

It is doubtfull that this was the lay out of the property back then
and others lived there also among them Carey & Katie Cummins.

Mom and dad never took photos of us nor the places we lived - it was almost as if were were not to exist and I doubt if mothers sister took any that should the whole house and total surroundings of the outside.

It was of bunglaow type, the living room and dining room was on the south the 2 bedrroms were to the north with a bath in between. The kitchen was the wideh of the house on the west end; it had a full attic/sleeping room above the entire wideth and length of the house. The was a cement patio hat spaned the wideth of the house on the west side with a back door wich sat more or less in the north half of the house; and with an outside entrance to the basement (believe their was an entrance to the basement which was combine with the strairway to the upstairs off the kitchen in the southwest corner; there was a small open stone entrance/proch on the southest of the house for the front door. There were two pine trees in front of the porch. There was about 2 foot stone wall that surrounded the properety from the side walk to the front door on the west and to the north to the propery line. Remnants of this stone wall is still in existence today.

Of this house - this is found -
1934 - Sep. 19 - The Moran house was moved from the site of the new post office in preparation for clearing the area. Arthur Dillon moved the house to his farm.

The house was razed soemtime in the early 1970's
