C. H. Pierce, Pioneer Cottage, Passes On
Here Over 40 years
Was the First Male Student At Prudue Univeristy; Was Well Known Hero
Word has been received of the death of Charles H. Pierce, 75 years of age which occured Thursday monrning, December 22 in Los Angles, Calif., after a long illness. Mr. Pierce was one of the olderst summer residents of Lake Maxinkuckee, having a cottage on the East Side for over forty years.
Charles Howard Peirce was born in Lafayette, Indiana April 22, 1857 he was the son of Martin L. and Emma L. Peirce. He attended Prudue Universit where he was the first amle student enrolled. Mr. Peirce married Harriet Brown of Layfayette on Decmber 9, 1880, and rhwy had one sone Martin L., who died suddently at the age of twnety-eight.
Mr. and Mrs. Peirce reided in Lafayette until about fifteen years ago when they moved to Toledo, Ohio, and then to Los Angles. In Decembe 1920, they celebrated their golden weddin anniversary in California with many of their olf Lafayette friends present.
Mr and Mrs Pierce many friends will grieve over his passing and his sermons and friendly presence will be greatlymissed. Funeral services were held in Los Angles on Saturday, December 24. He is survived by his widow who resides at 532 South Hobart Boulvard, Los Angles California.
