Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters’ Degree in Industrial Administration and a Ph.D. in Management - all from Purdue University. Received an Honorary Doctorate from Purdue in 1998. Began work in the Purdue Business Office in 1959, held several different positions and retired in 1998 as Executive Vice President and Treasurer of the University. Also served as a Trustee of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association and as Director of First Federal Bank of Lafayette and Circle Income Shares. Was president of Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO) 1979-80. Board Member of the Westminster Village Foundation, 2007.

Frederick R. Ford and his wife, Mary, in front of the university's first freestanding dining court, which was named was named in their honor on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, The Fred and Mary Ford Dining at Russell Street on the Prudue Campus at West Lafayette. Frederick Ford is Purdue's emeritus executive vice president and treasurer.
