Floyd L. Sparling, 91, 784 West Shore Dr., Culver, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday at his home. He had been in failing health for one month.

Born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada to Newton and Meda Graham Sparling, he married Marjorie Barnes. She survives.

Mr. Sparling was a builder for James I. Barnes Construction Co., Logansport, and president of Sparling Construction Co., Greensboro, N.C. He moved to the Culver area in 1963. He was a Logansport High School graduate and attended Tri-State University, Angola.

Surviving with his wife, at home, are two daughters, Virginia Sparling Doyle, Knightdale, N.C.; Linda Sparling Brockey, Culver; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Sparling Laymon, Panama City, Fla.

Preceding in death were his parents, one daughter, Suzanne Sparling Greene, Greensboro, N.C., and one sister, Virginia Sparling MArshall.

Private services will be held at a later date. Burial is at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. Arrangements are by Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester.

Marjorie B. Sparling, 92, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday at her 784 West Shore Drive, Culver, residence. She had been in failing health eight years.

Born in Logansport to James I. and Emily Christine Engelbrecht Barnes, she married Floyd L. Sparling Jan. 19, 1932. He died Jan. 23, 2001.

Mrs. Sparling was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, N.C.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia DOYLE and husband Bob, Knightdale, N.C., Linda Broceky, Culver; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Hillis, Columbus, Virginia Kniesly, Logansport.

Preceding in death with her husband were one daughter, Suzanne Greeb, and five sisters, Lucile Crompp [Drompp], Emily Studebaker, Clara Medland, Betty Muehlausen and Elizabeth Barnes.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.
