11) Benjamin Easterday, Daniel's brother came in 1878 from Crawford County, Ohio, bought a farm right beside Dan's, and settled there. The place is now Schuyler Overmyer's (1898). Benjamin Easterday Birth 1 Jan 1840 in Crawford County, Ohio Death 13 Feb 1926 in Culver town, Marshall, Indiana married Amanda Shupp Born: 27 MAY 1837 Lykens, Crawford, Ohio 5 Died: 04 DEC 1909 in Culver, Marshall, Indiana daughter of Michael John Shupp

Benjamin's land on the south shore and bordering also on the lake had 118.29 acres. District School No. 10, the Mt. Pleasant School, was located in the southwest corner of this land.

The statement has been made that in 1880, Benjamin came from Ohio and purchased a 118-acre farm immediately south of the present cemetery, With the exception of the old township corner, the longstanding portions of the Masonic cemetery sit on former Easterday farmland. Note this statement some what errorneous in that as shown the 118 acre farm spoke of above was on what is South Shore Dr. to day at the every south eastern tip of the lake but by 1898 this was in the name of S. My grandfather, Benjamin Easterday, an early settler, (Corwin, "One Townhsip's Yesterdays") moved his family to Culver from Bucyrus, Ohio in 1878. His farm was on the south side of Culver bordering Lake Maxinkuckee.

My grandfather gave the land for the old southwest section of Culver's cemetery. At the same time he deeded a plot to each of his children. My mother and father, with my brother and his wife, are buried in her plot. Grandfather was a charter member of Emmanuel Church....
