    Heart Attack Claims Chester Edwards, age 71

    Joseph Chester Edwards, age 71, died of a heart attack at his home on the East Shore Lane early Tuesday morning. He had been in failing health for several months.

    Born in Union township, and with the exception of a few yeatrs spent in the west when he was a young man, he lived his entire life in this community.

    He had worked for many years as a caretaker of cottages .

    He attended the Maxinkuckee Methodist church.

    Surviving are the widow, Lillie; and four daughters: Mrs Nancy Bang;, Miss Caroll Edwards and and Miss Martha Edwards all of Mishawaka; and Carmen at home; one son Joseph Kansas City, Mo; and one sister Mrs. George Crabb, Culver.

    Funeral services will be held at the Easterday chapel Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph M. Jones of the Culver Methodist church officiating.

    Burial will be at t he Washington Cemetery east of CUlver.

      Culver - Carmen P. Bennett, 50, of 921 S. Plymouth St., died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday in Parkview Hospital after an illness of 18 months.

      She was born on Jn 8, 1930 in Culver and was a lifelong resident.

      She was a telephone operator for the Indiana Bell Telephone co.

      She was married on Oct. 29, 1977 to Clyde B. Bennett. He survivies with two step-sons Gary Bennett of ELkhart and Hall Bennett of Louisville, Ky.; seven step=-grandchildren and three sisters Mrs. Nacy Edwards of South Bend; Mrs. Coral Mitchell of Lafayette and Mrs Bartha Delore DeMike of Edwardsburg.

      Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Bonnie Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Hansen, pastor of the Emmanual United Methodist Church will officate.

      Burial will be in St. Josephn County Memorial Park South Bend.

      Firends may call after 2 p .m. Thursday in the Funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Marshall county Cnacer society.

      Culver - Services for Clyde B Bennett, 80 of 416 E Patterson St. Lakeville fomerly of Culver, who died at 2:40 p.m. in Memorial Hospital South Bend will be at 11 a.m. Monday.

      Burial will be in Culver Masonic Cemetery.

      Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. SUnday in the funeral home.


      Mr. Bennett was a retired carpenter.

      He was born July 19, 1914 in ora and moved to Lakeville three years ago from Culver.

      In 1936 he married Maxine Andrews. She died in 1970.

      In 1977 he married Carmen Edwards. SHe died in 1980.

      His wife Donna whom he married in 1991, survivess.

      Also surviving are two sons Gary of Elkhart and Hal of Louisville, Ky; seven grandchildren; two sisters Gayna Behmer of New Port RIcheym Fla. and Charlotte Warner of Argos; and a brother C. Art Bennett of Culver.

      EDWARDSBURG - Delore J. DeMike, 84, passed away on December 1, 2009 in West Woods of Niles. Survivors include his wife, Martha L.; a son, Joseph of Nokomis, FL; sisters, Patricia (Paul) Koch and Marge Lower; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Hirth. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, in the chapel of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The U.S. Navy honor guard will play taps and present the flag at the chapel service. Arrangements were by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home.

      Joseph Edwards, Former Resident, Dies in Missouri

      Joseph F. Edwards , age 47, of Blue Springs, Mo., died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 17, while at. work at the Kansas City Municipal Air Terminal where he suffered a heart attack. He was an electronic technician and had been employed 20 years by the Federal A v i a t i o n Agency.

      Mr. Edwards was born in Marshall County, Ind., the son of Lillie Edwards and the late Chester Edwards. He was a veteran of World War I I , serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs.

      He leaves his wife, Frances Edwards ; two sons, David C. and Robert S. Edwards ; and two stepdaughters, Carolyn Morgan and Linda Morgan, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Lillie Edwards, Culver ; and four sisters, Carmen Edwards and Nancy McNeal, Culver , Mrs. Martha DeMike, Edwardsburg, Michigan, and Mrs. Carol Mitchell, West Lafayette,

      Services were held Friday,. Aug. 20, at the Miaylfield Chapel, Blue Springs. Burial Was in the Blue Springs Cemetery.

      Mrs. Ethel Louise Edwards, 39, of 8101 East 54th Terrace, Kansas City, Mo., died early Saturday , Jan. 20, at the home of her sister, Mrs.Helen Rader, 5203 Skiles after a long illness.

      Mrs. Edwards, the daughter-in-law of Mrs. Chester Edwards Route 1 Culver was a native of Kansas City. She was a member of the Northeast Presbyterian church.

      Other survivors include her husband, Joseph F Edwards; and two sons: David Chester and Robert Stanley at home and a brother Radford K. Nelson of Kansas City. - 31 Jan 1962
