Francis Edwards was born in 1799 / 1801 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania DEATH 29 MAY 1873 Culver, Marshall, Indiana

married 22 Jan 1824 Montgomery county Ohio Elizabeth S. Hoover BIRTH 1803 Maryland a native of Maryland, but who was reared near Marion, Indiana. DEATH 17 APRIL 1880 Indiana, daughter of David Hoover & Catherine Hartle

Francis Edwards, the pioneer, was a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and at an early day settled on a farm in Miami County, Indiana.

They bought approximately 34 acres on the east shore of Lake Maxinkuckee from the state of Indiana on September 2, 1848.

Not long after the first permanent settlements were made in Marshall County, he removed to this section, selecting for his new home a wooded tract of 73 acres in Union Township, upon which he built a log house and started improvements which his son, Stephen, completed.

After their deaths, their son, Stephen, bought the EDWARDS land from the other heirs.

He and his wife, the former Nancy SAVAGE, had five children: Chester, Drury, Birtamark, Effa, and Ella.

They farmed the land and took in paying guests during the summertime. Their son, Chester, lived with his wife and family on his portion of the homestead until his death on July 23, 1946 and some of this land is still owned by members of his family.

They had 11 children
