From the Logansport Daily Journal page 3 dated Aug. 27, 1882:
All the preliminaries for the extension of the Logansport branch of the Vandalia railway to Lake Michigan have been satisfactorily adjusted, and upon compliiance with a few easy conditions the contact will be closed, and the work will be commenced and pushed to completion.

Readers of the Journal are familiar with the route of this line to Marmont (Maxinkuckee), and will have no difficulty in following it to South Bend and the lake...
With these advantages before them, our citizens are asked to consider one of the conditions above named, which condition is that the right of way shall be furnished free to the new line thorugh our county. The estimated cost of this right of way is from $7,000 to $10,000 and it is proposed to raise the amount by subscription. A consideraable portion of this subscription has already been secured, and a committee appointed for that purpose will make an effort to raise the remainder during the present week...

2015 - Jan. 30 - New 33-home Culver housing development proposed
Plymouth-based Construction Management & Design has proposed a 33-home Planned Unit Development between State Road 10 and Academy Road in Culver, expected to be completed by summer of 2016 if the project is given the green light at each step of the municipal approval process, which began last week with the Culver plan commission, which approved the first step of the process, which will be followed up at its March meeting. If the commission approves the proposal that month, the Culver town council would likely vote on it in April and May.

Cory Collins of presented the company's preliminary plans for Harbour Landing, which is planned to have a golf cart path into town from the area

The houses planned would be single-family homes, with an additional community building available to residents and including two commercial spaces available for lease for local business development.

The homes will range in size from roughly 1,400 to 2,000 square feet, and many will feature basements. Several are ranch-style homes and some will be built handicapped-accessible, according to Collins, who added that a small handful of the structures will likely be rental homes managed by CMD.

The price range, from $175,000 to $250,000 per house

2015 - APr 15 - Final Readings Forthcoming for Culver Housing Development
The Town of Culver held a public hearing on a project that may see housing developed along State Road 10.

What was initially named “Harbor Landing” has seen a change to “Maple Ridge Villas” to prevent confusion for emergency responders. The development calls for about 30 homes, or condominiums, that will be priced between $175-thousand and $250-thousand.

Construction Management and Design is undertaking the effort. Vice President of Operations Cory Collins says this project will happen in phases.

“Phase one which will be approximately 12 homes will start the minute we gain approval from the Town Council,” says Collins. “As soon as possible, hopefully in June of this year. We would most likely finish those 12 homes by December 1st.”

The next two phases will work on nine homes each.

The development has already received a recommendation from the Culver Plan Commission. A public hearing before the Town Council was scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Members of the public had the opportunity to ask questions about sidewalks, lighting, and water drainage in the plans. The development is expected to take around 14 months after final approval by the Town Council.

Collins says the development will allow for a Homeowners Association.

“Snowplowing, salting the sidewalks, it’ll handle all the mowing, lawn care, trimming. All that stuff,” says Collins.

It was initially proposed that some of the housing units may be rented, but Construction Management and Design says they don’t plan to have problems selling the units.

The Culver Town Council approved the matter on first reading. The matter will come back at their next meeting for possible second and third approval. - April 16, 2015 Tyler Maffitt wkvi. com

Controversy over the name of "Harbour Landing" being to similar to the name of "Harbour Condominiums" on Washington Street and would hinder immediate help in the event of emergency calls the name was changed to "Maple Ridge Estates"

2015 - Oct 1 - Maple Ridge Villa PUD
In response to a query from audience member Tony Zurbrugg,it was explained that all council members - as well as Leist and town building inspector Russ Mason - visited the site of the in-progress Maple Ridge Villas Planned Unit Development project between State Route 10 and Academy Road. The site had been the source of some animated discussionat the previous council meeting concerning placement of a large dirt pile at the north end of State Street, as well as elevation of homes there in relation to existing houses in general.

The large dirt pile, said Leist, is only being stored temporarily, and a portion of it has already been removed. Without water runoff from the site to other properties, there's nothingthe town can do regarding the concerns expressed, it was noted. The county surveyor, at Mason's request, evaluated the site and did not have a problem, it was added. Work also began on the swale at the west end of the property for water drainage (and State Route 10 at the site wasclosed for several days last week as work progressed on the drainage site).

Tom Yuhas asked whether developing company CMD would consider placing a sidewalk along State Route 10 in conjunction with the project, something about which Mason said he would inquire, suggesting such an endeavor might improve the site for residents of the PUD anyway.
