The above group of pictures gives a general idea why the
Maxinkuckee Fish and Game Club
has been declared one of the most outstanding in the state.
One usually takes it for granted that a fish club concerns itself with the rearing of
fish only, but this is far from true of the local organization, though that activity is
still it number one project.
After getting its ponds started on its grounds west of town of
State Road 10 the club built an attractive house for the sustodian and superintendent,
Russell "Jimmy" Burns |

Then a picnic grounds was laid out, where tables, ovens (missing) Then a picnic ground
make the site a mecca for picnickers.
Pheasnt raising was later added and this year the club has had fine success as it has had
a very low mortality rate. The pheasants have been released in the community to add to
the attractiveness for hunters during the open season.
One section of the area has been turned over to the Boy Scouts, who maintain a campign
ground for hikes, overnight outings and nature study
A recent addition to the fish club's list of activities had been the gun club, which hild skeet
and trap shooting matches. Regular and complete courses have been laid out for both sports
and nearby club house provides a convenient resting place.
Russell Fisher is the president of the club and has enjoyed a whole-hearted cooperation of the
members as well as Game Warden Herbert Sloan and the Indiana Department of Conservation .
