More than 235,000 fish were planted in Lake Macinkuckee and Hawk's Lake this year by th
Sanctuary Club and the Maxinkuckee according to figures recently compiled by official of
both clubs.
The Scantuary Club, located on the Grounds of Culver Military Academy, planted 15,161
small mouth bass ranging in size from four to six inches.
The Maxinkuckee Fish and Game Club planted 218,690 bluegills from one to two inches
in size
The large size of small mouth bass planted by the Sanctuary Club was due to exremely
early spring this year and accounted for the early hatch. These are prehaps the largest
fish that the club has linerated in the past severl years. RThese fish were planted in
Lake Maxinkuckee.
The Maxinkuckee Club, which has specialized in rhw propagation of bluegills, has planted
the entire amounty in Lake Maxinkuckee and Hawk's Lake, besides 10,700 large mouth
bass averaging four inches in length.
Hawks Lake, the outlet to Lake Maxinkuckee, has recieved more attention in 1938 than in
previous years. About 66,00 bluegills were planted in this lake.
Maxinkuckee FIsh and Game Ponds - There are nine rearing pomds in this ideal location of State Road 10 West of towon. There are five ponds in the left background and two more in the rear of the point on which is located the club house, a part of which can be seen on the right. | ![]() |
